Changemakers in Waterloo Region

Our Strategic Plan

Picture

Dear Friends:

The Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region (SASC) is proud to present The Future We Choose, a bold and compassionate roadmap for 2025 to 2028.

Rooted in the voices of survivors and shaped through deep community engagement, this Strategic Plan outlines our shared path forward as we work to transform systems, expand access to care, and build a region where survivors are supported, believed, and empowered.

We developed this plan during a time of significant social and political change. The ongoing impacts of gender-based violence, housing insecurity, systemic racism, and economic instability continue to shape survivors’ lives. At the same time, we see growing momentum for prevention, healing justice, and survivor-led advocacy. This plan embraces that momentum, moving us from a period of stabilization into a phase of transformation.

Over the next three years, SASC will focus on five strategic pillars:

Leadership, Innovation, and Excellence
We will pilot transformative models of care, invest in professional development, and ensure our programs continue to evolve to meet survivors’ needs.

Bold Community Engagement and Partnerships
We will grow trusted relationships, amplify survivor voices, and increase our presence in equity-seeking communities.

Movement-Building and Systems Change
We will advocate for upstream solutions, including advocacy related to the intersections of housing and violence, and lead public education efforts that shift culture and policy.

Sustainability and Organizational Resilience
We will care for our team, strengthen our systems, and nurture a stable foundation to support survivors for the long haul.

Equitable Access and Survivor-Centered Design
We will expand culturally specific support, ensure timely support for survivors, and embed survivor feedback across all areas of service.

This plan builds on the significant achievements of our last strategic cycle, including a major reduction in counselling wait times, and positions us to lead with courage, care, and accountability.

At SASC, we know that a better future is possible. It’s one where every survivor has timely access to care, where prevention is prioritized, and where gender-based violence is no longer normalized or ignored. This is the future we choose, and we invite our community to choose it with us.
