Male Allies Against Sexual Violence

Male Allies Against Sexual Violence or MAASV is a unique public education program of the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region. It is an opportunity for men who want to be allies in the work to end sexual violence against women and children.

The MAASV program provides training around issues of sexual violence, concepts of masculinity, how to respond to disclosure of sexual violence, and how men can be active in ending violence against women, including exploring these subjects with young males.

Men may use the knowledge gained from MAASV:

  • To educate and actively work with men and boys in their personal lives to end violence against women
  • In their paid or volunteer work to help young males learn, grow and develop positive relationships and a good self-image.

Our next community workshop for men interested in MAASV is on Saturday, November 19th, 2011 from 9AM to 4:30PM! Contact PubEd@sascwr.org or call Joan at 519-571-0121 x32 for more information.

The Astley Family Foundation recognizes the importance of this work and provides funding for this program.
